A celebration of your resilience and trust, inspired by the ability to balance an awe of beauty with fear of the unknown.
With so much uncertainty around the pandemic, I was struck by the bright colorful flowers blooming everywhere, while simultaneously feeling the darkness of isolation and uncertainty. I made this ring as a reminder that we can feel all the feels and still find beauty and goodness around us.
How I made it:
Hammered and fabricated silver sheet and wire.
I formed the leaf shapes from flat silver by hammering them over a variety of steel tools to get the desired shape. I carved the small circular element from wax and had it cast in silver. These smaller parts were then welded and soldered to the larger ring I made by hammering square wire into a circle. I soldered this larger component to the ring shank, which I made by hammering oval wire. The inside is sanded to ensure a soft and comfortable fit.
